Uttarakhand holds the high-Himalayan Char Dham — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath — opened only six months a year as the deities winter at lower-altitude abodes. The state is also home to the Panch Kedar (5 Shiva sites) and Panch Badri (5 Vishnu sites) circuits, plus the Hemkund Sahib trek.
