- Built 1749-1758 CE by PESHWA BALAJI BAJI RAO (NANASAHEB PESHWA) as a hilltop temple-complex. Balaji's mother Kashibai had a-vow to build-a-Shiva-temple; the resulting-complex on the Parvati-Hill (103m above surrounding ground) in south-central Pune became one of the Peshwa-dynasty's-signature religious-foundations and the-family-kuldev-location.
